DSTG TO COLLABORATE WITH LIONS CLUB

Delta State Government has promised to partner and collaborate with the Lions Club International, Multiple District 404 Nigeria in her programmes aimed at adding value to mankind.
            Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State stated this through his deputy, Barr. (DCN) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro while playing host to the Multiple District Chairman, MCC Stella Agbogun and her entourage in Asaba Delta State.
            Senator Okowa stated that his administration and Lions Club are partners in progress and in service delivery to humanity and explained that the
partnership would be sustained…”as a government, we will take note of you request and keep it in view so that we can together partner and collaborate and add extra value to mankind” he assured.
            Governor Okowa acknowledged that the objective of the club tallied with the programmes and policies of his administration particularly in provision of social and welfare services to people, especially the vulnerable people adding that before now his government has through SMART programme put in place institutional structures and legal frame work to ensure adequate delivery of social and welfare services to Deltans.
            He emphasized that the state government has put in place people oriented programmes and policies to ensure that it add value to people and congratulated Lions Club International for attaining 100 years of existence and humanitarian services.
            Speaking earlier, the Multiple District Council Chairperson (MCC) Stella Agbogun, solicited the assistance of the Delta State Government in the areas of providing succor to the less privileged in the state.
             (MCC) Stella Agbogun, leader of the delegation noted that Lion Club is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) with the world largest service organization, having membership of Over 1.4 million, in 209 countries and geographical locations with a Consultative Status with the United Nations Organization (UNO).
            She asserted that, Lion Club birthed in Nigeria in 1964 with the formation of the 1st Lion Club which is known today as the Lagos Doyen Lions Club, adding that it was founded by 24 expatriates and one Nigerian - Doyen Lion Sir Akintola Williams, who till date is still very much active in his club.
MCC Stellar Agbogun said their focus is on preventing blindness all over the world, empowering the youths, alleviating hunger, protection of the environment and fight against the scourges of cancer.
